Brain

Alcohol has many effects on the brain. It inhibits long-term memory and makes it difficult to remember things directly before and during drinking. Alcohol also affects sleep. While under the influence, REM sleep is suppressed, so you may be tired even after you wake up. Alcohol also impairs judgment, so you are much more likely to make regrettable decisions after drinking.

Circulatory System

Alcohol can significantly decrease blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiratory rate. Extended use over many years can lead to anemia, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

Nervous System

Alcohol depresses the central nervous system, which can lead to slower reaction times, loss of motor skills, slurred speech, and unconsciousness.

Reproductive System

Use of alcohol can lead to loss of sensation, and make it difficult to reach orgasm, and in higher doses can even lead to temporary impotence. Prolonged alcohol use can lead to loss of sex drive, and can cause impotence in men and irregular menstruation in women.
