Live Safe 101

This weekly class is open to all Colorado State University students. You can register by calling 491-1702 or through the infosoft online assessment program. The class is held in a small group with a nonjudgmental format that includes lively and stimulating discussion. Department of Alcohol and Drug Education and Prevention staff and graduate students facilitate the class.

Topics covered include:

  • The glamorization of alcohol.
  • Media influences.
  • Addiction vs abuse.
  • Myths and reality about substance use on college campuses.
  • How substances affect the brain and body.
  • Participation in interactive exercises to generate discussion about the social, interpersonal, and academic influences substances have in our culture.

In addition, a panel of CSU students will discuss the impact that substance use has had on their lives. Participants can ask questions, and the class tries to promote a relaxed atmosphere for exploring beliefs, myths and misperceptions about substances. Finally, students develop personal implementation plans relating to their substance use.
